I thought at first that the church is indeed united, there is no division, all believed in the same doctrine. However, this lecture proved that there were some people before that really wanted to have their own interpretation of the Bible. As a result, they separated themselves from the church and they made their own doctrines. They deviated from what the Bible says in which they were identified as cults. I don't really know why these kinds of people made their own doctrines, perhaps they wanted to be popular and be in the history. Another thing that is instilled into my mind is the production of the word of God. I think this could be one reason why some people became cults because the canon is not yet organize in their time although the scripture is already complete. I can't imagine how our church fathers fought for the truth especially in their defense of the canonization of the scriptures against those who wanted to suppress the truth. I think if they failed to consider the 66 books t-in the Bible as the standard of Christianity, there might be no church which is following the truth today. As I evaluate my past and present condition. I can really say that I am not very passionate in the word of God. As a result, there are wrong teachings of other groups which are indeed cultic in nature which I cannot defend. I can say to my self that I am not really grounded by the word of God. The things and step that I will do. First is to put into my mind how our church fathers defend the truth that we believe right now. Second is to ground my self very well with the word of God so that I can defend thoroughly and correctly my faith.
